Letter From Dr. Paul Bryar Democrat for Congress - Candidate for the 5th Congressional District of Illinois:
Dear Friends & Neighbors,
My name is Dr. Paul Bryar, an eye surgeon, medical school professor at Northwestern University, community volunteer, and candidate for Congress for the 5th Congressional District of Illinois. Together, we have seen Illinois and Illinois politicians as the subject of national inquiry in the media. I believe that, together, you and I will bring honesty and integrity back to government. I am humbled by the generous support and encouragement from the community, and I look forward to serving the people of the 5th Congressional District in Washington, D.C.
Many candidates in this election claim to be reformers. Our city is selling off assets for a short-term infusion of cash, and we will be paying the price for generations. Our county has the highest sales tax in the nation. And our state government is paralyzed and unable to effectively address ethics, health care and education. These so-called "reformers" have been in government for decades, and we are still in a crisis.
Make no mistake, our problems did not begin with the federal indictment of our governor. As a voter, you are empowered to bring a new type of leadership and a new set of values to Congress. You can choose between this new leadership and the next politician in line. Together we can make a difference.
As a doctor, people put their trust in me. As a full time teacher at the medical school at Northwestern University, I train our future doctors. Since I began practicing medicine 10 years ago, I have spent one day each week providing medical care in a community health center in Chicago's Cabrini Green neighborhood for patients without health insurance. I put the values of honesty, integrity and service into action every day. I promise to bring these values to the United States Congress.
Our state and country are facing tremendous challenges. I will use my experience as a doctor and teacher to help our country reform health care and expand education opportunities for working families. I will support responsible policies to fix America's damaged economy, and help create an environmentally responsible energy policy that will bring energy independence while creating and protecting American jobs.
Thank you for visiting my web site. Unlike others in this race, I understand that Washington, D.C. doesn't need another politician from Chicago. Our district needs a leader like myself. This election is about the residents of the 5th Congressional District, not about any one candidate's ambition for higher office. Become a part of our effort by talking to your neighbors and people in your network to help spread the word about our campaign.
Please join me in this endeavor to bring honesty, integrity and real life experience to Congress.
Sincerely,
Paul
